Lethbridge-West MLA, Finance Critic for Pension & Insurance Issues
I have had the pleasure of working alongside Kathleen Ganley for years. She is incredibly intelligent, kind and views the world through the lens of what would be best for her own kid, my kids and a bright future for all Albertans. She is an experienced leader and has become a confidant and a close friend of mine over our time in Government and Opposition. We are at our very best when we work together to tackle major challenges ahead (many of them caused by the current UCP Government) and not only do I believe that Kathleen understands this, but I have always found her willing to entertain an opinion that differs from hers. She is focused on the economy, education and on growing our party. The Alberta NDP’s best days are ahead and I believe that Kathleen Ganley is the best leader to take us to government in 2027. The people of Lethbridge, the people of Alberta should get behind this incredible woman. I am so proud to be on Team Ganley.
Calgary-Bhullar McCall MLA, Deputy House Leader, Justice Critic
Kathleen is intelligent, experienced and she cares about people. She is committed to public service and is passionate about education and our economic future. Having known her since law school and worked with her over the years since 2015, I know she is honest, she works hard and is capable of tackling challenging situations. As the next leader of Alberta’s NDP and Premier of Alberta, she will help us build a future that is inclusive, responsive to Alberta’s changing needs, and where everyone has opportunities to be successful I am proud to be on her team as we build towards forming the next Alberta NDP Government.
Edmonton-Decore MLA
It’s an honour to join Kathleen Ganley and her incredible team in this campaign. This campaign is about more than our party — it's about shaping the future of our province and ensuring that our government reflects the values and needs of all its people. I am committed to this vision and ready to work tirelessly to make it a reality.
Former Alberta NDP Leader
I had the pleasure of serving in the government cabinet with Kathleen for four years. I found her to be incredibly intelligent, thoughtful and always focused on what’s best for the team,” said Mason. “Her warm and supportive personality is exactly what is needed in politics today, where flash and ego often garner more attention than substance and values. I believe Kathleen is the best leader to focus on building the party for the future and ensuring that we govern with those struggling in mind. Kathleen Ganley is an Alberta New Democrat, through and through. She’s the right leader for this time. I’m proud to call her a friend and I’m proud to endorse her to be the next leader of the Alberta NDP.
Former Alberta NDP Leader
Kathleen Ganley is a smart, experienced leader. She cares deeply about the Alberta NDP and the incredible people of this province. I believe Kathleen when she says she wants to build an economy that works for people. I also hold public education and public healthcare near to my heart and I agree with her that properly supporting both is an investment in our future. Kathleen Ganley will make an incredible Alberta NDP leader. She will pull people together and build a team that is ready and focused on winning and forming the next Alberta NDP Government.
Edmonton-Manning MLA, Deputy Whip, Agriculture, Forestry & Rural Economic Development Critic
Kathleen recognizes the need for us to reach deeper into rural Alberta communities and to continue building relationships with people right across Alberta. She supports workers’ rights and better wages. She supports economic diversification and the need to take real action to combat climate change and properly prepare for increasingly intense wildfire seasons. I’m proud to be on a team that recognizes we need an economy that works for people and I’m proud to work alongside Kathleen Ganley to expand on our strong rural economies while building a brighter future for all Albertans. As she raises her daughter while serving as an MLA, Kathleen continues to inspire me with her strong family values and connection to her community.
Calgary-Edgemont MLA, Status of Women Critic
In 2015, I watched in awe and amazement as the Alberta NDP formed government. I was a volunteer when I first met Kathleen. She was a thoughtful and natural leader, and I appreciated her knowledge and understanding of policy. The Alberta NDP government that was elected in 2015 made history, and Kathleen was a leading light as she served as Justice Minister. That experience served her well. She will be ready to lead a team of Alberta NDP MLAs when we form government again. Her experience of being in Government has prepared her for all of the hard questions she will face. I’ve watched Kathleen mentor the Calgary candidates as we headed into the 2023 election, listening to our concerns and advocating for us. We both deeply valued the team that was forming and the relationships that were being built. Kathleen knows how to win a difficult election here in Calgary. And she recognizes that we need different approaches throughout Alberta. Over the years I’ve appreciated the heartfelt conversations with Kathleen on how we can make politics accessible for women — for moms — so that we can all have a seat at the decision making table. I am grateful for her mentorship, friendship and advice, which has helped me on my own political journey. I share Kathleen’s vision for the province that we can create for our children. She values our most important commodity, our children, the generation that will inherit this beautiful province. Alberta’s children deserve safe, accessible public education. They should be able to go to Alberta Children’s Hospital and not wait for 14 hours to see a doctor to care for them. And during the summer they deserve to play outside and not be locked in doors because of fires caused by climate change. Kathleen has been surrounding herself with an amazing group of MLAs and volunteers who believe in her. Like so many other people, I hope that you join the team to support Kathleen become the next Alberta NDP Leader and the Premier in 2027. The leadership race has begun, and I am so proud to be on Team Ganley.
Calgary-North East MLA, Small Business Critic
I believe Kathleen Ganley is the leader we need for the Alberta NDP because she genuinely understands the economy and how it needs to work for people. She knows Albertans are struggling right now and is focused on helping lower the cost of living. She understands that small businesses aren’t a collection of numbers on a balance sheet – they are families, dreamers, and hard workers who just want a fair chance to succeed. Her commitment to creating an inclusive economy where everyone has a voice, especially small business owners, shows a path forward that’s both hopeful and practical. And she shares my passion for public education. I believe that, with her leading the Alberta NDP, we will finally build long-awaited schools in northeast Calgary that are so desperately needed. But it’s not just about policies. Kathleen leads with empathy and kindness — qualities we desperately need today. She listens — really listens — to what people need. That’s the kind of leadership that inspires, the kind that makes a real difference in people’s lives. I believe in Kathleen Ganley. I believe in her not just as a politician, but as a person who genuinely cares for Alberta and its people. Supporting her for the Alberta NDP leadership isn’t just a political decision for me; it's a decision for a better, more inclusive Alberta where small businesses thrive and contribute to our shared prosperity. Join me in supporting a leader who understands us, who fights for us, and who will lead us into a future we can all be proud of.
Calgary-Beddigton MLA, Critic for Services to Children with Disabilities
I’ve known Kathleen for over 25 years, so I have dozens of stories I could tell you. They could be stories about how hard she works, how committed she is to serving others, or how much she loves her kid. But, the story I want to tell is about how Kathleen Ganley knows what it takes to win. This story starts in 2019 after Alberta’s NDP had lost government. At the time, I had run in my home riding of Calgary-Beddington because Kathleen asked me to step up — and we all know that she can be quite persuasive. Let’s be honest, the loss hit Calgary progressives quite hard. It was a tough time, with little enthusiasm left to regain our seats in Calgary. The person who didn’t give up on Calgary? Well, that was Kathleen. In the face of that disappointment, Kathleen just put her head down and got to work. The work wasn’t glamorous but she’s never been in this for glamour. From 2019 to 2023, Kathleen stepped up to be our captain in Calgary. She coached new candidates. She spoke at our AGMs. She recruited new volunteers. She was in every single corner of this city doing the work that needed to be done to win an election. Alberta’s NDP won the popular vote in Calgary last election, although we didn’t win the election. We did create a seismic shift in this city, but know there’s still so much more work left to be done. Now, I see the opportunity for Kathleen to captain our team across the province. We can and we will win in 2027 with a leader like Kathleen in our corner.
Edmonton-Meadows MLA, Infrastructure Critic
Over the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Kathleen Ganley. In that time, I came to know Kathleen as a dependable colleague, a fierce debater, and someone always willing to lend an ear. I’ve had the pleasure of travelling across Alberta with Kathleen and seeing firsthand her ability to listen, communicate, and truly engage Albertans to fight for their needs. The need for better public healthcare facilities, the importance of public safety, and the challenges of affordability that everyday Albertans face. Every time I’ve called Kathleen, she answered. Kathleen is a torchbearer of ABNDP values. Her commitment to inclusivity and her vision for a united, diverse Alberta aligns perfectly with the core principles of our party and the needs of our province. Her approach to leadership is grounded in listening, understanding and taking action that benefits all Albertans. Kathleen Ganley is the ideal choice to lead Alberta’s NDP. With Kathleen as leader, I am confident that the Alberta NDP will continue to be a party that represents every Albertan. And, I encourage everyone to join me in supporting her candidacy for the leadership of Alberta's NDP.
Former MLA Lesser Slave Lake and Minister of Children’s Services, Minister of Municipal Affairs, and Minister Responsible for the Status of Women.
It is my great pleasure to give my support to Kathleen Ganley as the future leader of the Alberta NDP. I was thankful for the opportunity to work with Kathleen when we were both Cabinet Ministers under Rachel Notley. Bonding over both being moms who lived outside of Edmonton, I came to know her as a smart, caring, insightful and strong woman, focused on moving Alberta forward to make it better for all of us. Working together in Cabinet, on some very difficult issues, we were able to build policy that is still making life better for children and families today. Over the years since we first met, Kathleen has grown and gained tremendous knowledge and experience, all of which makes her prepared to take on the role of leader, and eventually the role of Premier of Alberta. It matters to me that Kathleen is from outside Edmonton. The people of Alberta are diverse, and she brings a perspective that will help us to broaden support outside the capital so that we can form government once again, and provide the kind of leadership that the people of Alberta need. I choose Kathleen for party leader — and I hope you do too!
Former Municipal Affairs Minister, NDP Leduc-Beaumont MLA
I endorse Kathleen Ganley as the next leader of the Alberta NDP because she is smart, well-spoken and always makes sure she has all the facts to make a decision. Kathleen earnestly listens to people, has her heart in the right place and genuinely is in this for the people of Alberta above all else. I believe she will lead us to the next Alberta NDP Government.
Oneil Carlier, former Alberta Minister of Agriculture and Forestry & former Alberta NDP MLA for Whitecourt-Ste. Anne
I had the pleasure of serving with Kathleen in the first Alberta NDP cabinet. She brings a wealth of knowledge and critical thinking to the table. I believe Kathleen will help us build bridges into rural Alberta that we desperately need. I think her team-first approach is exactly what is needed to form the next Alberta NDP Government in 2027 and many more after that. I believe we have a good story to tell on the economy and that the policies Kathleen Ganley will bring forward will help working people. She’s keenly interested in agriculture, in fighting climate change and in investing in substantial diversification initiatives. I believe Kathleen is the best choice for Alberta NDP Leader, for Alberta Premier and I look forward to joining her and the incredible people behind her at the victory party!
Former Calgary-Klein MLA
I first met Kathleen shortly after she began working at the law firm that my employer at the time relied upon. We were both candidates in the upcoming 2015 provincial election. While I didn’t get to know her well in this capacity, it wasn’t long before we were colleagues in the Legislature. She would soon become the first Alberta NDP Justice Minister. In that new mass of NDP MLAs, Kathleen stood out. You didn’t notice her for her splendor or exuberance; you noticed her when she spoke — thoughtful, intelligent, composed, calm and compassionate. She was a quiet, resolved leader. It’s these qualities that I want to see in Alberta NDP’s next leader. It’s these qualities that bring a team together behind a leader. And it’s these qualities in a leader that will ultimately help drive the NDP back into government. When I consider who should be the next leader of the Alberta NDP, I don’t think just in terms of who’s the best leader for the party; I have to include who would be the best Premier of the province. Unequivocally, that person is Kathleen Ganley.
Former Alberta NDP Calgary-Cross candidate
Kathleen Ganley is a winner. She has played a huge part of the success we’ve had here in Calgary, winning the popular vote in the 2023 election. I believe, with her as leader, we’ve only just begun to realize our potential in this incredible city. I believe Kathleen is right to focus on the economy and making life affordable for families. I believe her when she says she wants to take the party to new heights together, by working as a team. I am proud to be on Team Ganley and will vote for her to be the Alberta NDP Leader the first opportunity I get."
Former Alberta NDP Brooks-Medicine Hat candidate
I’m supporting Kathleen Ganley for leader because I believe she understands that it takes more than Edmontonians’ votes to win elections in Alberta! Her work in Calgary and rural ridings (she came and doorknocked with us in Brooks) has demonstrated this. Additionally, Kathleen truly listens to voters and supporters both urban and rural. I feel this strongly, having witnessed and engaged with her in many discussions. Moreover, her work as Justice Minister and Solicitor General demonstrates her brilliance. Finally, I’ve seen her pick up a mop and pitch in after an event in Medicine Hat — and this shows her humility: these are all qualities Albertans, as a whole, admire in a leader. We NEED to win the next election for all our sakes, and I truly believe Kathleen can most certainly do it!
Former Alberta NDP Lethbridge-East candidate
Not only has Kathleen Ganley been elected as MLA three times, but she has also served as a high-level Cabinet Minister in the Alberta NDP Government. Her dedication to the Alberta NDP, her constituents and the people of Alberta is without question. She is as compassionate and caring as she is tenacious and focused. Kathleen is intelligent, thoughtful, forward-thinking and insightful. These are the qualities necessary to lead the Alberta NDP and Kathleen Ganley is that leader.
Former Alberta NDP Livingstone-Macleod candidate
Kathleen Ganley has built strong, successful teams in hard-to-win ridings and has shown her leadership abilities both in Opposition and in Government. She is smart, focused and effective and it doesn’t hurt that she’s from my old hometown, Calgary. Having our next leader be from outside the Edmonton bubble can only help our party to build its strength province-wide. Kathleen shares my belief that the Alberta NDP needs to know, understand and win rural ridings when we form government in 2027, and I believe that she is the one who can get us there.
Former Alberta NDP Calgary-Fish Creek candidate
It is vital that we elect a leader that is the right person to lead our party and the right person to lead our Province. I will be voting for Kathleen Ganley. Kathleen has the legal background that gives her the foundation needed to understand the complexity of the issues facing the government of today in the role of leader of the opposition or as Premier. Her experience makes her the best candidate for the role. She has been the minister of Justice and Solicitor General, serving an entire term as the governing party and then a second term in opposition. Kathleen is an effective advocate for social justice, economic opportunity, acceptance, and gender and racial equity. Kathleen is calm and collected, in the legislature and in the press gallery. Kathleen is the leader that will be looking to strike that perfect balance between the needs of the people and the needs of the private sector. She will make Alberta the best province to do business in, and the best Province to live in. Please join me in voting for Kathleen Ganley as leader of the Alberta NDP.
Former Alberta NDP Calgary-Shaw candidate
I’m on Team Ganley for one big reason: Kathleen knows how to win. She’s proven it by getting elected three times — across two different ridings. More importantly, Kathleen knows the ingredients to our success: solid teamwork, a strong data game and empowered volunteers who go all-out to win. In Kathleen Ganley, we have a leader who is deeply connected to Calgary, passionate about growing our party from the inside out, and possesses the strategic acumen needed to lead Alberta's NDP to victory in the next elections. Let's rally behind Kathleen and work together for a stronger Alberta where we all succeed.
Former Alberta NDP Calgary-West candidate
I enthusiastically offer my endorsement for Kathleen Ganley. Having run as a candidate in the 2023 election in Calgary-West, I had the privilege of benefiting directly from Kathleen's commitment, dedication, and unwavering support for her colleagues. One of the standout qualities that impressed me during our time working together is Kathleen's profound respect for her colleagues. She consistently demonstrates an ability to listen, understand differing perspectives, and foster a collaborative environment. In the often challenging and divisive world of politics, Kathleen's inclusive approach is a breath of fresh air and exemplifies the kind of leadership that our province needs to bring us together. As we look ahead to the 2027 provincial election, Kathleen Ganley is the leader Alberta’s NDP needs now to lead us into a better future. Kathleen’s proven experience and integrity as an MLA alongside her collaborative vision for successful governance will ensure the confidence and trust of her team and party supporters. Kathleen’s competency, pragmatism, and ability to understand social responsibility through an economic lens will appeal greatly to more centrist or moderate Albertans like myself in ridings like Calgary-West and rural areas. With Kathleen as the leader of Alberta’s NDP, I believe Albertans will be able to recognize themselves in a party that reflects our shared values and vote to elect a more progressive and competent government that serves all Albertans. I encourage all party members and voters to get involved and rally together for change. Together, under Kathleen's capable leadership, we can build a stronger, more inclusive Alberta.
Former Alberta NDP Calgary-Lougheed candidate
I have always believed that leadership is not just about leading a group of people; it goes beyond that. Leadership is about values, competence, empathy, and most importantly, team building. As the youngest candidate in the last election, I had the opportunity to observe and learn from one of the best — Kathleen Ganley. Her approach to offering advice always felt personal and genuine, as she encouraged us to embrace our individuality and bring our own perspectives to our political work. There's no question that Kathleen Ganley is the leader the Alberta NDP needs right now. Her intellectual depth, combined with a genuine commitment to inclusive and progressive politics, positions her as the ideal figure to guide our party and province towards a bright and inclusive future. Our shared passion for the law is one of the many reasons I admire her. Kathleen’s legal background isn’t merely a professional credential; it serves as a lens through which she views and addresses governance and equity issues. It is inspiring to see how her legal insights mix with her political endeavours, emphasizing a comprehensive and pragmatic perspective on policy issues. With great respect, I am proud to stand with and endorse my friend, Kathleen Ganley, to be the next leader of Alberta’s New Democrats.
Former Alberta NDP Caucus Chief of Staff
If people hadn’t approached her, Kathleen Ganley would never have thought to run for leader of the Alberta NDP. It wouldn’t have occurred to her because she’s so humble, caring and always puts the needs of other people first. It’s this selfless — and sometimes quiet — leadership that makes her stand out. Kathleen will lead a team that recognizes the value of every person involved and her collective approach is exactly what will lead us to an Alberta NDP Government in 2027 and perhaps more. Her voice will get louder now and I believe people will listen to what she has to say. Kathleen is one of the smartest people I’ve ever met, but she always takes time to listen to the ideas and perspectives of others. Kathleen stepped aside and ran in a different riding in 2019 because it was what the team needed. Now, her constituency support is among the strongest in the province. I watched Kathleen provide comfort to new candidates ahead of the 2023 election, too. She never did this — or anything for that matter — for the glory or recognition, but simply because it was the right thing to do. Kathleen taught me so much while working together in Government and Opposition, and she demonstrates every day that the fight for a better tomorrow is worth it. I consider Kathleen one of my best friends and I am honoured to be part of her growing team. She’s always been there to support us and it’s about time we return the favour. Kathleen Ganley should be the next leader of the Alberta NDP and we would be so lucky as to have her serve as the Premier of Alberta.
Alberta NDP Sherwood Constituency Manager, Team Ganley’s Central Vice-President
Rural Alberta will benefit from Kathleen Ganley as premier, with her proven track record in provincial politics. This year marks 20 years since I became a member of Alberta's NDP, and I can see the party's values reflected in Kathleen's actions. I can see how far we've come as a party and who is best equipped to take us forward. Kathleen knows how to build bridges and build an impressive team of supporters. (I'm reminded of the quote: "Tell me who you walk with, and I'll tell you who you are,” —Esmeralda Santiago) We need Kathleen's attention to detail and thoughtful approach. As a former Justice minister, she honed her analytical skills and demonstrated her capacity to navigate complex legislation. Her background underscores her ability to dissect issues and propose practical solutions. Moreover, she engages with empathy, considering diverse perspectives. Kathleen embodies the qualities we need in leadership — intelligence, experience, and commitment to her values.
Emeritus Professor, University of Alberta Faculty of Law and former Deputy Minister, Alberta Justice and Solicitor General
“I had the pleasure of working closely with Kathleen Ganley when she was Alberta's Minister of Justice and Solicitor General. “While she was new to political life when I began working with her, she worked extraordinarily hard and quickly grew into the role. She listened carefully to the advice she received but she knew her own mind and always did what she thought was best for the people of Alberta. She combined energy and enthusiasm with intelligence and common sense. She was a consummate team player and always focused on the common good rather than her own self-interest. During her time in Opposition she has expanded her understanding of the issues that are critical to Alberta's future. I believe she has prepared herself well to take on a greater leadership role and I am delighted to support her campaign for the leadership of Alberta's New Democratic Party. I sincerely hope that she will become the Premier of Alberta,”
Former MLA, Calgary-Varsity 2004-2012
Choosing a leader requires finding an intelligent, inclusive individual, one who is ready to take on the challenges facing Albertans. Kathleen is that person. Kathleen’s positive attitude, her dedication, make her the best choice to lead Alberta's NDP moving our province forward. Kathleen, has conscientiously served her constituents as the MLA for two critical Calgary ridings — Calgary-Mountain View and Calgary-Buffalo — over more than eight years. Kathleen was the first Alberta NDP Justice Minister and Solicitor General and the first NDP Official Opposition Justice Critic. In her current role as the Official Opposition Energy Critic, Kathleen is focused on stabilising Albertans’ economic future. What makes Kathleen remarkable is her ability to listen and problem solve. Kathleen will selflessly strive to create a more people-focused Alberta economy. She will safeguard Albertans’ pensions. The important role of the Alberta Energy Regulator will be reformed. I'm proud to endorse Kathleen. With Kathleen at the helm, Albertans are in good hands as we move forward together toward a brighter, more prosperous Alberta.
IBEW
It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse Kathleen Ganley for her commitment to the advancement and protection of workers' rights, particularly in championing fair wages. As a longtime member of Alberta’s NDP, Kathleen has demonstrated a clear understanding of the issues vital to our members. When workers are paid fairly, it not only improves their lives but also bolsters the economy, enhances family stability and strengthens communities. As a former labour lawyer, we believe that Kathleen Ganley is not just a friend, but a true ally in the fight for workers' rights. Her leadership and vision are exactly what we need to ensure a future where fair wages are not just a goal but a reality for every worker. I am proud to stand with Kathleen Ganley and I support her ongoing efforts to become the next leader of Alberta’s NDP. I encourage all who believe in a fair, just, and equitable workplace to do the same.
Former Alberta NDP Calgary-North East candidate
Kathleen Ganley cares about her community and the people living in it. I believe it’s her time — she is experienced, competent and will listen to the people she serves and then act to make their lives better. I believe she is focused on supporting seniors and what matters to them and will do whatever it takes to protect their pensions. I know public education and public healthcare are priorities for Kathleen and I believe she will properly fund both. I am proud to support Kathleen and to be on her team. This team, under her steady leadership, will form the next Alberta NDP Government.
former Co-Chair of Alberta NDP Race Equity Caucus, former Alberta NDP Caucus Community Liaison & Media Officer
Looking ahead to the 2027 election, I’m convinced that Kathleen Ganley is the perfect fit to lead Alberta’s NDP. She’s got an inspiring vision, relentless drive, and a fantastic team to back her up. What stands out about Kathleen is her leadership style – it’s a mix of empathy, strategic thinking, and a solid commitment to winning. Being a political organizer for more than 15 years, I have had a chance to work with various politicians. However, Kathleen has understanding, humility, and willingness to listen to different perspectives on a whole new level. What I admire most is her strong belief in teamwork. She lives by the idea of ‘Work Together, Win Together,’ and this sense of unity and collaboration under her leadership makes me so confident about our success in the next election. Together, let’s make history in 2027. I believe we can do it with Kathleen as leader.
Calgary-Mountain View Treasurer and former Alberta NDP Organizer
The first time I met Kathleen Ganley was 2018. We were door knocking together in Calgary-Mountain View after she switched ridings to let a colleague run in her former riding of Calgary-Buffalo. This is who Kathleen is, she puts others first and will take the harder path to make things easier for those around her. I’ve been proud to continue working with Kathleen since 2018 and have seen first-hand how she exemplifies the values of a good leader. “Work together, win together” isn’t just a motto, it’s the way Kathleen has always approached politics. She consistently works to bring people together and help others succeed. Kathleen has mentored new volunteers and candidates and spent countless hours knocking on doors around the province, because she knows we must work together. Kathleen has always been in my corner, and I am proud to be a member of her growing team. She is the leader the Alberta NDP needs, and I look forward to the day she is Premier of Alberta.
Calgary-Edgemont President
In my opinion, Kathleen Ganley is the natural next leader of Alberta's NDP. She has the experience of being in cabinet as Justice Minister and Solicitor General, and in the shadow cabinet in the critical role of Energy Critic. Kathleen is a team player, and she will bring together and lead a strong team. Above all, Kathleen Ganley believes that the job of government is to serve the people, without distinction, which is the guiding principle of the NDP.
Constituent Assistant to Shannon Phillips, MLA since 2015 and past VCO in Lethbridge East and Lethbridge West campaigns. Current Treasurer for Lethbridge East and West.
I am backing Kathleen for the leadership because she has the best experience at winning tough races. To win government again, our party needs to campaign differently in Calgary and in rural ridings than we do in Edmonton. I share Kathleen’s view on how to make this party a truly Alberta-wide party that can win in smaller cities and rural areas.
Past Calgary-Glenmore deputy campaign manager, past constituency association president & volunteer
I got to know Kathleen Ganley when she came down to support the Calgary-Glenmore team during the recent provincial election. Going door-to-door, I watched her connect with my neighbours on the issues that mattered to them. The running joke was that she was a ‘Conservative whisperer,’ who was able to win over people who swore they’d never vote NDP. Kathleen is smart. She convinces people of her ideas with composure and intelligence. And, I’ve really appreciated getting to know her as a friend. I am confident that Kathleen will be a great Premier as the leader of the team that will form the next Alberta NDP Government.
Calgary-Bhullar McCall EDA member & longtime volunteer
For the past five years, I've proudly served as a staffer within Alberta's NDP, drawn to the party's core values that prioritize advocating for the vulnerable, championing human rights, fostering job creation, and combating poverty. My commitment to these principles led me to align myself with the NDP, where I've witnessed firsthand the dedication and hard work of Kathleen Ganley. During her tenure as Alberta's Justice Minister from 2015 to 2019, and later as the Energy Critic from 2019 to 2023, Kathleen Ganley has consistently demonstrated her unwavering commitment to serving the people of Alberta. Her dedication, approachability, and depth of knowledge are evident in every aspect of her work. Whether it's advocating for the rights of Albertans in the legislature or tirelessly working to address the pressing issues facing our province, Kathleen Ganley has proven herself to be a capable and effective leader. I firmly believe that Kathleen Ganley possesses the leadership qualities necessary to guide both our party and our province towards a future characterized by resilience and inclusivity. She has a clear vision for Alberta—one that prioritizes the well-being of all families, whether they are long-time residents or newcomers seeking a better future. I wholeheartedly endorse Kathleen Ganley as the leadership candidate of Alberta's NDP and urge my fellow New Democrats to support her candidacy. By rallying behind Kathleen Ganley, we can collectively work towards building a brighter future for all Albertans. With her at the helm, we can confidently hold our heads high as members of Alberta's NDP, knowing that Kathleen Ganley is leading the charge to make our province a symbol of progress and prosperity within Canada.
Calgary Mountain View EDA President
I am pleased to extend my endorsement for Kathleen Ganley as she announces her candidacy for leadership of the Alberta NDP. As president of the Calgary Mountainview EDA, I have had the extreme honour of witnessing Kathleen’s steadfast commitment and dedication not only to her constituents, but to all Albertans. Throughout Kathleen’s MLA career, she has consistently demonstrated her ability to engage with people on a personal level which emphasizes her approachable and inclusive style of leadership. I found a political home within the NDP and a significant part of that discovery was getting involved with Kathleen’s constituency. Watching Kathleen engage with Albertans in a variety of settings — be it townhalls, coffee shop chats or debates, I have witnessed her build relations, advocate and support those that need a voice. I have watched the reemergence of political empathy. I have observed Kathleen’s deep dedication to social justice and the empowerment of all Albertans. I believe Kathleen Ganley is a leader who can navigate complex issues and can be that leader who fosters collaboration and inclusivity, be that strong and effective presence and will stand up for the rights of Albertans. I enthusiastically endorse Kathleen Ganley for the leadership of the Alberta NDP.
Calgary-Edgemont Treasurer
I am pleased to support Kathleen Ganley for the leadership of Alberta’s NDP. Her experience, commitment to progressive, team-based values, and evidence-based approach to policy will build on the strength of Rachel Notley’s history-making legacy.
Former Alberta NDP Cypress-Medicine Hat candidate
Most significant for me in this next provincial contest is generating more support in the Calgary and rural ridings. Kathleen Ganley is a well known, proven, and well respected name in Calgary; and she has made a significant impression on the two Medicine Hat ridings, both considered rural and winnable ridings. Her talent in communication, debates, and leadership are evident in having served as our Justice Minister and Alberta’s Solicitor General. She is my choice for leader of the Alberta NDP.
Retired healthcare leader and active Calgary-Glenmore volunteer
Kathleen understands what seniors face every day. She knows about our healthcare needs, the importance of affordable living, and the value of our contributions to society. Her commitment to these issues is clear and genuine. Her leadership experience is impressive and exactly what we need right now. Kathleen is not just a politician; she's a leader who listens, understands, and takes action. She has a track record of standing up for what's right and making sure that senior voices are not only heard but are a priority. In Kathleen, I see a leader who can bring positive change. She can win in crucial battleground ridings and she will make a real difference in our lives. Together, under Kathleen's leadership, we can look forward to a future where seniors are valued, supported, and have every opportunity to thrive.
Calgary-Mountain View Secretary
It has been such a privilege to work alongside Kathleen Ganley and the other Alberta New Democrats in Calgary-Mountainview over the past two years. Now, Kathleen is running for leader and I happy to endorse her. She’s intelligent, compassionate and always makes time for those around her. She has led efforts to make this constituency to be one of the strongest in Alberta and now she has her sights set on the rest of the province. I believe Kathleen Ganley can lead us to forming the next Alberta NDP Government. She is focused on the future of our economy, education system and on protecting public healthcare. I am proud to be party of Team Ganley.
Calgary-Glenmore EDA Member
I've been hanging around in the political scene in Calgary-Glenmore for the last few years. During that time, I have volunteered extensively for campaigns, knocked a lot of doors and am currently a member of the constituency association. Through this work, I have met a lot of different candidates over the years – and there is something that I have always said – I would not give my time, money and efforts to a candidate I didn’t believe in with all of my heart. Kathleen is someone who has what it takes, she is the real deal. She's got the experience, the smarts, and the heart for the job. I've seen her in action, bringing people together, and making sure everyone's voice is heard. And let's be real, we need someone who gets it – someone who cares deeply about our province and making it better for all of us. Someone who loves working with a team and everyone feels heard and valued. This isn't just about politics; it's personal. It's about creating a future we can be proud of for our kids. Kathleen's vision lines up with that, and I'm excited and hopeful about what she can bring to the table as leader. So, as we gear up for this leadership race, let's throw our support behind Kathleen Ganley. She's the leader we need to listen, understand, and make things happen for all of us.
Former Alberta NDP Cardston-Siksika candidate
As the past president of the Lethbridge East NDP constituency association, I understand how important it is to win seats in small cities and the rural constituencies in order to form government. Kathleen Ganley has proven she knows how to build winning teams in Calgary and southern Alberta. Her previous experience in cabinet has shown she has the experience to lead. She has my support for the party leadership of the NDP in Alberta.
Calgary Beddington EDA member and volunteer
I met Kathleen on a doorknocking shift here with my local EDA in Beddington two years out from the 2023 election. As an avid political watcher I was surprised to see a former Justice Minister on the doors in a constituency not her own, two years before an election. Not only was I impressed by her dedication to the growth of this party at the grassroots level but, I got to see her work her magic on the doors close-up. She walked the walk when it came to rebuilding here in Calgary and worked as hard as any of us to earn the seats we gained on May 29. When I think of the qualities of a leader who can take us further than we have been before, Kathleen is the obvious choice. Her ability to listen to good ideas and recognize them, regardless of who they come from and to do the hard work when nobody is looking make her a leader I am proud to follow. She knows how to build a team, with her hard work and mentorship we won the majority of seats in Calgary in 2023 and with her at the helm of the party I have no doubts she can build a winning team for 2027
Longtime Alberta NDP volunteer in Medicine Hat
I am supporting Kathleen Ganley in the NDP Leadership contest because she has demonstrated great leadership in so many ways. Kathleen was successful in winning two different ridings in Calgary. Her first win was in Calgary-Buffalo, a riding my son lives in. We were both impressed by the accomplishments Kathleen orchestrated for all Albertans as Justice Minister. Kathleen later ran in Calgary-Mountain View in 2019, a PC riding which she represents to date. I door knocked with Kathleen in the Brooks-Medicine Hat by-election and saw that Kathleen understands the needs of rural communities, an understanding that will enable the party to win not only in Calgary but many rural ridings as well. Having Kathleen Ganley as the next Premier will help move the party forward. She demonstrates incredible leadership skills, has an ability to communicate effectively, build effective teams, and get the job done. She is smart, compassionate, and understands the needs of all Albertans!

I have seen firsthand the dedication and hard work that Kathleen brings to the table. Her commitment to our movement and our party is undeniable. Kathleen's vision for our party and dedication to reaching out to all communities across Alberta is remarkable, and makes her the kind of leader we need if we want to win in 2027. I know with her at the helm we’ll be able to build an incredible team that is ready to ‘Work together win together.'

I worked on both Kathleen’s campaigns and have talked to her on two or three times. I think her experience as Minister of Justice and as Energy Critic, as well as her work as a sitting MLA, give her the depth and breadth of political experience that we need in our leader. Kathleen is articulate and she strikes me as honest, principled and level-headed. She is a good listener. I think she would do a great job of communicating her vision for the party and for the province.
Kavin Sheikheldin, Member At Large for Calgary-Mountain View
In 2020, I visited the Calgary-Mountain View constituency office and met Kathleen Ganley for the first time. My objective was to deliver an important envelope containing a petition telling the government to reverse the change in the AISH (Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped)/IS (Income Support) payment date back to its original schedule. AISH/IS is a financial and health benefits program for eligible Albertans with a permanent medical condition that prevents them from earning a living. The change in payment date was made by former Premier Jason Kenney, who wanted the payment dates to align with the first of each month, excluding weekends and holidays, to improve the UCP's budget. This payment date change has caused people on AISH/IS the inability to get essential needs, etc met on time. After handing over the petition, I offered to volunteer for Kathleen Ganley and the Calgary- Mountainview team, and I have been committed to this effort ever since. I have actively participated in door-knocking efforts alongside Kathleen Ganley, her dedicated volunteers, and staff. In addition, I have made phone calls on Call Hub to support her and the NDP. I am truly grateful to Kathleen and the Calgary-Mountain View team for allowing me to volunteer with such a dedicated group. Kathleen has always shown her support for me, and I feel honoured to be a part of her team. She possesses all the qualities necessary for a strong leader in the Alberta NDP, including her wealth of experience, dedication to progressive values, teamwork, and evidence- based policy approach. I eagerly look forward to the day when she becomes the Premier of Alberta, knowing she will pave the way for a better future.
former Alberta NDP Rimbey-Rocky Mountain House-Sundre candidate
Over three terms Kathleen Ganley has developed characteristics of a great NDP leader. I believe that she should be the next Alberta Premier. Her primary asset is that she is an active listener who engages as a partner in conversations. As a parent of two daughters and a grandparent of four grandsons, it is important to me that Alberta return to being a national leader in education curriculum and standards, and also in health care. Kathleen has committed to these issues. I am a rural resident and a strong advocate for the environment. It is my assessment that Kathleen will finally stop coal mining in the Eastern Slopes. In addition Kathleen will insist on a plan with implementation “teeth” to finally clean up the abandoned and orphan wells at the companies” expense - not with Albertan’s tax money. And looking into the future, she will make the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) work for all Albertans, not just for the oil and gas companies. Please join me in supporting Kathleen for the next NDP leader and the next Premier of Alberta.
Climate advocate. Grandfather. Husband.
This is an important juncture for Alberta’s future. The decision this June, is to select the person who can best lead Alberta after the next provincial election. In my opinion, that choice, from a stellar slate of leadership candidates, is Kathleen Ganley. I offer that opinion, not as a partisan insider, but rather as an Albertan motivated to get involved in the political process for the first time, due to the gravity of the circumstances we find ourselves in today. On Kathleen’s web site, she extends an invitation to all Albertans, to bring their ideas, their energy, and their dreams forward, to help create a better future for all. Taking her up on that invitation, I reached out to set up a meeting between Kathleen and a diverse group of Albertans committed to addressing climate change. To my pleasant surprise, she readily agreed to the meeting, and we had a great conversation about the issue and possible solutions. I have also attended constituent and leadership campaign meetings. In all cases, no matter who the audience is, I found that she listens generously, is unfailingly attentive, interested, and non-judgemental. And when she disagrees, she says so, followed by an explanation as to why and offers alternative perspectives for consideration. In a world, where most of us take politicians’ words with a grain of salt, it was refreshing to see someone who walks the talk. It indicates she is someone who acts with integrity, not from political expediency. I think we all want, indeed need, more of that. My wife and I have lived in Alberta for five decades, raised our children here, and like many Albertans, have been through boom-bust cycles, inflation and interest rates in the teens, and housing costs that stretched the budget to the limit. Despite the frequent hard times, we, like most Albertans persevered, motivated by a future that looked bright, due to the natural resources our province was endowed with, and the people from all over Canada and around the world who had chosen to make this place their home. That future does not seem so bright today. Our healthcare system is stretched to the breaking point, our educational system is underfunded and under-resourced, and the essentials of life are increasingly out of reach for many people. And, if that’s not enough, climate change and the inevitable transition of the world’s energy-economy, creates a very uncertain future for Albertans. The issues we face are complex, the solutions multi-faceted. But if we have learned one thing from our history, it is that with real leadership, we can prevail. It will take a leader with intelligence and humility, one who acts with integrity, guided by a clear vision of a future and who works for all of us. I have seen those attributes in Kathleen and am confident that she is the leader we need for the next stage of our journey.
Registered Nurse. Albertan. Mother
I am supporting Kathleen Ganley in her run for next leader of the Alberta NDP and next Premier of Alberta in 2027. There are many reasons why I am voting for #teamganley but here are a few - Her ability to instill confidence that she will lead the Alberta NDP due to her knowledge, intelligence, compassion, strength and grace, while maintaining pressure and holding accountable our current government who appears to be making changes on items that I feel will negatively affect Albertans if they occur. Her experience as a MLA, as cabinet minister and as a member of the official opposition and roles she has held. These roles have allowed Kathleen to gain extensive knowledge on different issues facing Albertans and this will help lead the policies she makes to help ensure a better Alberta for all people. Her experience as a lawyer and the work she has conducted in this position, especially her human rights work. This is especially important as our current government has put into place policies that I feel are harmful to groups of Albertans and have taken away their rights. I feel Kathleen, with her knowledge and experience in this area will help address the changes needed to allow all Albertans to feel heard and (relatively) safe in our province. Kathleen is the next leader of the Albertan NDP that we didn’t know we needed. She will be a voice for all Albertans regardless if they voted or not and she will continue to ensure that the work she does is in the best interest for all Albertans, now and in the future.

I’m I am supporting Kathleen Ganley as the next leader of the Alberta NDP. She brings a wealth of experience to the role, having been an MLA, Minister of Justice/Solicitor General and Energy Critic. She listens to others and works collaboratively to support all Albertans. I know Kathleen and the NDP will build a flourishing Alberta where each of us is included and respected. Kathleen’s vision of Alberta is where I want to live.

Kathleen's tenure as Justice Minister was a mission of equity, slashing child poverty in half and ensuring every Alberta family has a fighting chance. Kathleen believes that a family’s background should not determine their future in Alberta.
